Japan maestro Ozawa to make comeback in August

TOKYO (Reuters) - Seiji Ozawa, Japan's most famous conductor, is set to make a comeback in August at a music festival after taking more than a year off to recover from a spell of bad health that included bouts of pneumonia. The former Vienna State Opera music director, 77, who before that was conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in January 2010 and completed treatment later that year. Last March, he announced he would take a year-long break from conducting to recover his strength after a number of health issues but vowed to return to performing. ...

BERLIN (Reuters) - Singer-songwriter Tony Sheridan, an early supporter of the Beatles, has died in Hamburg aged 72 following a long illness, German media reported. Sheridan used the Beatles, then known as the Silver Beatles, as his back-up band when they played in seedy nightclubs in Hamburg's red light district in the 1960s well before numerous No. 1 hits made the British band famous. Sheridan died on Saturday, Feb 16, Hamburg-based magazine Der Spiegel reported on its website, citing a post by the musician's family on social media website facebook. (Reuters) - The Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie said on Monday that she and her husband, actor Josh Duhamel, are expecting a baby. "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!!," she tweeted. She also posted photos of herself and her husband as toddlers. It is the first child for the couple married in 2009. Duhamel, 40, appeared in the "Transformers" movies and stars this year in the film "Safe Haven." Fergie, 37, whose real name is Stacy Ferguson, joined The Black Eyed Peas in 2002 for their third album, "Elephunk," which proved to be a huge commercial success. ...

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Reuters) - Troubled country music star Mindy McCready, whose platinum singing career was shadowed by substance abuse and suicide attempts, was found dead on Sunday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, an Arkansas sheriff said. She was 37. McCready's body was found on the porch of a house in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on Sunday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at the scene "from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound," the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. ...
